- DISTANT EDUCATION PROCEDURES
- Before a course may be taught in a Distance Education format for the first time, it must be approved by the Distance Education Subcommittee.
- The distance Education Subcommittee consists of the three Distance Education experts on the Undergraduate and Graduate Curriculum Committees plus one faculty member from the UCC (for 100-599 level courses) or one member of the Graduate Curriculum Committee (for 600+ courses).
- The proposer of the course should complete a Course Change Proposal, noting that the course is being proposed for Distance Education, or a New Course Proposal, as appropriate.
- The proposer of the course should also complete the Distance Education Supplemental Form.
- The Distance Education Subcommittee will review the proposal and recommend changes, if required.
- After approval by the Distance Education Subcommittee, the course may be offered once, on a trial basis.
- After a course has been offered once in a Distance Education format, the proposer may present it to the appropriate committee for permanent approval. The course will then be reviewed for compliance with all of the Senate Distance Education Policy elements. Undergraduate (100-599) courses will be reviewed by the full UCC for final approval. Graduate courses will be reviewed by the Distance Education Subcommittee and a recommendation for approval or denial made to the Graduate Curriculum Committee.
