Guest Tickets
Guest admission at Viejas Arena will be available through mobile ticketing. Candidates who graduated in Fall 2023 or applied for Spring/Summer 2024 graduation by the January 30, 2024 filing deadline may claim guest admission tickets. Graduates will claim their initial allotment of guest tickets online, free of charge. SDSU does not authorize the sale of complimentary tickets.
All guests who are 1 year of age and older are required to have tickets to attend commencement. The only exceptions to this rule are babies under the age of 1 who must be seated on an adult’s lap.
Most commencement ceremonies will have RESERVED SEATING and guests will be required to sit at the assigned locations that appear on their tickets. There will also be commencement ceremonies that will have GENERAL ADMISSION SEATING and guests can take any open seat in most sections of the arena.

Graduates will need a GoAztecs account set up with their SDSU.edu email address to claim their guest tickets. On Monday, March 18, an email will be sent to the graduate’s SDSU.edu email address with a link to GoAztecs.com, where graduates will have the opportunity to claim their tickets.
Graduates who already have a GoAztecs account they used to claim free Aztec football or basketball student tickets do not need to create another account. Graduates can check with the Viejas Arena Ticket Office to confirm that their GoAztecs student account is set up by sending an email from their SDSU.edu email address to [email protected]. Graduates will need to provide the following information in their email:
Full name
SDSU RedID number
College from which the graduate is receiving a degree
Graduates should confirm they either have an account already set up with their SDSU.edu email address or create a new GoAztecs account prior to Monday, March 25.
Tickets for Guests with Mobility Concerns
Viejas Arena is a top-loading venue. Upon entering the arena, all guests will be at the top of each section. There is no bottom-level or mid-level guest entry into the arena. The row at the top of each section is row 36 and there are stairs that go down to the bottom of each section. All stairway aisles have handrails.
Row 36 is an accessible row that can be used by guests with mobility concerns (e.g., senior guests, guests who may have difficulty navigating stairs, guests who use a wheelchair for mobility, etc.).
TICKETS FOR RESERVED SEATING CEREMONIES
Graduates participating in reserved-seating ceremonies whose guests require the accessible row should claim two (2) tickets in row 36 in any section of the arena. Those graduates can claim their remaining tickets as close as possible to the tickets they claimed in the accessible row. Reserved accessible seating is limited and will be available for graduates to claim on a first-come, first-served basis.
TICKETS FOR GENERAL ADMISSION SEATING CEREMONIES
Graduates who are participating in a ceremony with general admission seating will not need to select seats in row 36, but they should ensure they are including their guests who have mobility concerns in the total number of tickets claimed online. Guests who need accessible seating may sit in any open seat in row 36 of any section and remaining guests can sit in nearby seats.
Graduates and guests can contact the Viejas Arena Ticket Office at [email protected] with questions regarding tickets for guests with mobility concerns.
Additional Guest Ticket Distribution
Starting Monday, April 29 at 9 a.m. graduates will have the opportunity to claim a limited number of additional guest tickets based on availability on the GoAztecs ticket site. The additional tickets available by college will be provided on the commencement website in late April. These numbers will be determined by the total number of graduates registered for the ceremony and the maximum seating capacity at Viejas Arena, and cannot be adjusted.
Please note, if the graduate is participating in a ceremony with reserved guest seating, additional guest tickets are not guaranteed to be located together or near the initial allotment of guest tickets the graduate claimed. In some instances, there may only be reserved, scattered single seats available. For ceremonies with general admission, seating is first-come, first-served in most sections of the arena.
On the day of commencement, guests are welcome to visit the Viejas Arena Box Office to see if any additional tickets are available. There is no guarantee that additional tickets will be available, however.
Accessing Guest Tickets
Starting Monday, May 6 at 3 p.m., graduates will be able to transfer their guest tickets. Tickets can be transferred to individual guests or collectively to one guest. For guests to access transferred tickets, they will need to create a GoAztecs account. Graduates can also choose to give their guests their GoAztecs login information so their guests do not have to create a GoAztecs account.
Once guests have received their tickets, either through creating their own GoAztecs account or accessing the graduate’s GoAztecs account, those tickets should be uploaded and saved onto the guest’s smartphone wallet.
Campus Wi-Fi may be unreliable during commencement. To avoid delays in guest entry, graduates should encourage their guests to upload their mobile ticket(s) onto their smartphone wallets prior to the date of the ceremony. Mobile tickets are easily accessible once saved to guests' smartphone wallets and Wi-Fi access will not be necessary to access tickets for entry if they are saved this way.
Screenshots and printed mobile tickets cannot be used for entry into any of the commencement ceremonies. Guests who attempt to use screenshots or printed copies of their mobile tickets will be directed to the Viejas Arena Ticket Office for ticket resolution and may be delayed in entering.
