The following schedule adjustments must be completed by 6 p.m. on the fifteenth class day of the semester. Students are not allowed to make ANY schedule changes after the 15th class day unless they have fully-documented evidence of serious and compelling reasons.

Students are responsible for initiating action for their own schedule adjustments. Please note that faculty have the option to drop students within the first twelve class days of the semester for non-attendance or lack of prerequisites. Check your schedule online to make sure you are enrolled in the right classes.

Adding a Course

Obtain an Add Code from the instructor of the class you are adding. You will need the schedule number that is given in the online class schedule AND the Add Code given by the instructor. Log on to the registration system in the SDSU WebPortal by the schedule adjustment deadline, and follow the instructions given.

WARNING: An Add Code can be used only once, so for your own protection, it should not be shared with others. Using an Add Code without the proper authorization from the instructor will result in disciplinary action.

Change of Grading Basis

Credit / No Credit: Students can change a class to Credit/No Credit through the registration system. Students must make changes to the grading basis for a class by the schedule adjustment deadline.

NOTE: There are limits to the number of courses you may take Cr/NC toward your baccalaureate degree. Students should be aware that courses in the major taken Cr/NC WILL NOT COUNT TOWARD THE UNIT REQUIREMENT FOR THE MAJOR. Refer to your General Catalog for details. No 600- or 700-numbered course may be taken for Cr/NC unless so designated in the Bulletin of the Graduate Division.

Audit: Obtain an Audit form from the Office of the Registrar. Return the completed form by the schedule adjustment deadline.

Late Registration

Late registration begins on the first day of classes and ends on the fifteenth class day of the semester at 6 p.m. Students who have paid fees, but have not yet registered for classes, should follow the "Adding a Course" procedures. To Late Register, follow these steps:

  1. Pay all registration fees due at the University Cashiers Office, including the $25 late registration fee. To assure access to registration, early payment is encouraged.
  2. Obtain Add Code(s) from instructor(s) of the class(es) in which you intend to register.
  3. Enroll in classes through the SDSU WebPortal by the schedule adjustment deadline.

Total Withdrawal From the University

Current students withdrawing from the university prior to the schedule adjustment deadline should go through the official withdrawal procedures in the Office of the Registrar. Dropping all courses does not constitute an official withdrawal. All new students withdrawing prior to the schedule adjustment deadline are required to reapply and be readmitted to the university for future semesters.

After the schedule adjustment deadline, withdrawals are only permitted for extremely serious, fully-documented cases involving health or accident. You must fill out a petition and green withdrawal card in addition to submitting documentation to the Office of the Registrar.

No refunds for total withdrawal will be issued for classes dropped after a certain date each semester (the point at which 60% of the semester has been completed - see Academic Calendar).
