San Diego State University will accept courses from accredited colleges and universities that are designated as baccalaureate level at the institution where the work was completed. Some courses may be used to meet specific requirements in General Education or the major. Transferable courses that do not meet any specific requirement will be accepted as elective credits.

Transfer Admission Planner (TAP)

TAP is provided to help you identify courses required to meet transfer admission requirements for SDSU. It contains information about transfer courses that may be used to meet General Education and Preparation for the Major requirements. It can also be used to help you identify individual courses that are equivalent to courses offered at SDSU. For more information, visit the TAP Web site.

Articulation System Stimulating Interinstitutional Student Transfer (ASSIST)

Agreements between campuses identify specific courses or sequences of courses at one institution that are considered comparable to, or acceptable in lieu of, a course or course sequence at another institution. ASSIST is California's official statewide resource for transfer information. For more information, visit the ASSIST Web site.

California Articulation Number (CAN)

The California Articulation Number (CAN) identifies some of the transferable, lower-division, introductory courses commonly taught on California college campuses.

The system assures students that CAN courses on one participating campus will be accepted "in lieu of" the comparable CAN course on another participating campus. For example: CAN ECON 2 on one campus will be accepted for CAN ECON 2 on another participating campus.
