Contact Tracing

While partners at the County of San Diego Health & Human Services Agency (HHSA) expect to maintain and manage the bulk portion of the contact tracing process in the community, SDSU faculty have developed supplemental processes and tools quickly isolate individuals who indicate that they have tested positive for COVID-19, instruct roommates or other household contacts to quarantine and take efforts within their home to minimize transmission, and to identify other prolonged contacts.

SDSU has also developed reporting processes to allow community members to report COVID-19 diagnoses or exposures, which receive follow up from the Student Health Services team. Due to the expertise of their faculty and leadership, the School of Public Health has also signed a contract with HHSA to implement a contact tracing program that will serve the San Diego County community and augment HHSA contact tracing efforts. This partnership provides the necessary infrastructure to conduct contract tracing for both the broader San Diego County community as well as the campus community, as needed.
