On-site Screening and Testing, Quarantine Capacity and Process

In accordance with the public health order for San Diego County, all team members working on campus will complete a temperature screening and/or a brief COVID symptoms screening when they report to work each day. Team members who have an elevated temperature, as confirmed by a second check 15 minutes following the first check, or who indicate that they may be experiencing COVID-19-like symptoms, will be required to leave the workplace until their symptoms have resolved.

In addition to the large number of local testing sites, including those conducted by partners at HHSA, SDSU is able to conduct tests and get results through existing relationships between Student Health Services and local reference laboratories. Processes for on-campus specimen collection are in development. In addition, SDSU is exploring additional testing strategies that would allow for regular on-campus testing, further reducing the turnaround time for results to within 24 hours, and providing potential asymptomatic screening for surveillance mechanisms.

An apartment unit that can be used for isolation and quarantine has been set aside should individuals be exposed to those who are COVID-19-positive, or who do not wish to return to their homes and risk exposure to their families while quarantining.  This will allow for SDSU to rapidly move infected or exposed students into these spaces.
