Dan Moshavi has been selected as the new Thomas and Evelyn Page Dean of the Fowler College of Business. His appointment will officially begin on August 3, 2022.

“I am thrilled to work with President de la Torre and Provost Ochoa to continue to elevate the reach and reputation of the Fowler College of Business regionally, nationally, and globally,” Moshavi said. “I look forward to being part of this vibrant, diverse, and innovative community.”

Moshavi comes to San Diego State University from San Jose State University, where he has served as dean of the Lucas College and Graduate School of Business for the last five years. During this time, Moshavi created innovative student learning and professional development experiences, expanded industry and community engagement and strengthened the research and teaching culture of the college. Under his leadership, the college’s undergraduate program saw tremendous growth and the percentage of students graduating in four years doubled.

"In following SDSU's ongoing Strategic Plan progress, the work underway at SDSU Mission Valley and the continued university-wide efforts to expand student support services, I am eager to have the Fowler College of Business significantly contribute and continue the momentum toward these key priorities."

Prior to his role as dean at SJSU, Moshavi served as professor of management and dean of the business schools at both Dominican University of California and Montana State University.

"Dr. Moshavi's appointment will undoubtedly build on the educational excellence so many have come to expect from the college with its nationally-ranked undergraduate and graduate programs,” said San Diego businessman and the school’s namesake, Ron Fowler. “I look forward to seeing the shared vision Dr. Moshavi introduces to further drive the stature and success of the Fowler College of Business in service to students, faculty, staff and industry."

Joining SDSU, Moshavi brings his extensive higher education administrative experience in strategic positioning, fundraising, community and alumni engagement, interdisciplinary program development, university operations, and faculty and staff development, and has led and managed initiatives focused on diverse and first-generation student populations.

"SDSU's Fowler College of Business is already a national exemplar in so many ways," shared SDSU President Adela de la Torre. "With this dean search, we were looking to ensure the college could be taken to the next level. After talking with him, and reviewing his extensive accomplishments to date, I am confident Dr. Moshavi has the skill and the vision to take us there."

Moshavi received his Bachelor of Arts in international affairs and his Master of Business Administration both from The George Washington University. He went on to earn his doctorate in management from the University of Oregon.

“As we look to the upcoming 2022-23 academic year and the beginning of Dr. Moshavi’s appointment, I must share my gratitude for Dr. Joe Belch and his dedicated and demonstrated leadership in serving as the interim dean of the Fowler College of Business this past year,” said SDSU Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Salvador Hector Ochoa.
