Make the most of winter recess with Winter Session ’26
With online courses offered between the fall and spring semesters, students can accelerate their path to graduation or study an area of interest.

San Diego State University Winter Session 2026, offered fully online by SDSU Global Campus, will include a dozen courses never before offered during the four-week intersession.
SDSU students who enroll in Winter Session classes are able to stay on track for graduation, earning academic credits through accelerated, fully online courses. Winter Session classes are asynchronous, so students can take classes from any location and anytime.
Past students have said they appreciate the opportunity Winter Session provides to avoid overloading their regular-semester schedules and still stay on track for graduation.
Since anyone can enroll in these online winter recess classes — including students from other colleges and universities, high school graduates and working professionals — they also are a way to explore an area of interest or return to taking college courses after a break.
This is the eighth year Global Campus has sponsored Winter Session. This year will feature 66 sections of 60 courses, including 12 which are being offered for the first time during Winter Session.
“This year, Winter Session is going to be bigger than ever,” said Jonny Holt, a Global Campus program manager who oversees Winter Session. “Not just because we're offering even more courses than last year, but because we have a broader variety of courses for students at every level. Whether you're a sophomore looking for a class to prepare for your major or a senior getting those last few credits before graduation, Winter Session has something to help you achieve your goals.”
New courses of interest for Winter Session 2026 include:
- ACCTG 332 Federal Income Taxation
- ACCTG 333 Accounting Information Systems
- ANTH 439 Cultural Comparison Through Film
- ECON 201 Statistical Methods
- ENS 222 Medical Terminology
- ENS 331 Exercise and Nutrition for Health, Fitness, and Performance
- MUSIC 345 Music Cultures of the World
- NURS 253 Stress and Human Health
- RTM 103 Surfing and Science
- SOC 102 Introduction to Social Problems
- SOC 450 Social Change
Most Winter Session courses satisfy either lower division Foundations requirements, upper division Explorations reqs, or key major requirements. Winter Session courses are accelerated and rigorous in terms of format and timeline, so students are limited to taking three units during the session.
Besides helping students maintain progress toward graduation, winter session courses help students explore interests outside their major and complete a course in less time than a regular semester.
